BSSSC Working Group on Maritime Policy The Working Group on Maritime Policy has been established with the aim to bundle and formulate the interests of the Baltic Sea regions in maritime policy and organize relevant political support. Currently we have members from Denmark, Germany, Norway, Poland, Russia and Sweden. The group is open for further interested parties.
The basis of our activities is the final declaration of the Kiel Conference on Maritime Policy in 2006 and its commitment to develop the Baltic Sea region into Europe’s maritime best practice region by 2015. The Working Group wants to contribute to the implementation on the regional level.
We, the BSSSC Working Group on Maritime Policy, seek to cooperate with other Baltic Sea organisations and actors regarding maritime affairs. We strive to bring together maritime actors of the region and to foster a target-oriented dialogue. Besides concretizing political demands we intend to support or initiate concrete maritime projects: projects in the framework of the Baltic Sea Region Programme 2007-2013 (INTERREG IV B) as well as political initiatives independent from it.
Main objectives of our activities:
• clean Baltic Sea
• prosperous maritime economy
• sustainability
• mutual benefit by cooperation and exchange
• a strong ‘maritime voice’ from the regional level
