Dear Youth!

We welcome you to join youth from all over the Baltic Sea Region 16-18 September in Klaipeda, Lithuania. From 16-18 September there will be a separate event just for youths, where you will join in discussions on issues such as sustainable waters, sustainable tourism and sustainable maritime economy. See separate invitation letter.

Youths are invited and strongly encouraged to also participate in the BSSSC Annual Conference 2019, which will be 18 till 20 September in the same city. The focus will also here be on sustainable maritime economy.

September 16

08:00 – 17:00 Participants arrival 


17:30 – 19:00 Getting to know each other (ice-breaking)/ walking tour around Klaipeda Old Town.


19:30 – 21:00 Dinner

September 17


9:00 – 9:15 Introduction to BSSSC and Baltic Sea region


9:15 – 10:00 Key-note speech. SDGs with a focus on maritime issues.


10:00 – 13:00 Visits/meetings with entrepreneurs working in the field of coastal and maritime tourism (e.g. wake-parks, water bikes, surfing, etc.) & self-experiencing water-sports (depending on weather conditions ).


13:00 – 14:30 Lunch


14:30 – 17:00 Workshop for BSSSC youth. Highlighting challenges of coastal and maritime economy and Development of ideas for coastal and maritime tourism/ extreme sports (activities, business ideas, services, etc.) focused on youth interests (in collaboration with local entrepreneurs, tourism experts, etc.).


17:00 – 17:20 Wrap of the day. 


18:00 Dinner with the youth organizations, ambassadors & politicians and an evening programme with #chooseklaipeda ambassadors.

9:30 – 10:00 Waking up (ice-breaking)


10:00 – 11:30 World-Cafe Workshop on ideas how to overcome seasonality challenges in coastal and maritime tourism.


11:30 – 13:30 Group work. Connections between maritime/coastal tourism and Sustainable Development Goals. How to make tourism more sustainable? 


13:30 – 15:00 Lunch


15:00 – 16:00 Election of a new Youth Board member.


16:00 – 17:30 Wrap of the day. Presenting Youth Declaration developed in Gdansk, reflection on how it was implemented, new ideas, recommendations and commitments, which can be added to the already existing document.


18:00 – 21:00 Dinner together with the participants of BSSSC Annual Conference.
