Successful BSSSC youth event held in Hämeenlinna, Finland

Mandatory and pan-Baltic recycling system, electric planes and mandatory youth hearing with local parliaments. These were just a few of the ideas the youths presented at the BSSSC Youth Event in Hämeenlinna, Finland 18-20 April.

The event gathered about twenty youths from regions around the Baltic Sea Region. They discussed how to reach the Sustainable Development Goals, with a special focus on areas connected to Green Cities and Smart Future. They also discussed Inter-generational learning (involving 'silver and youth'), Digitization, and Youth democracy. For two days a film crew filmed the youths to save the moments and their viewpoints so we can distribute them easier. The film will be will be presented at the youth seminar at the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2018 4-5 June, Tallinn, Estonia, which BSSSC is hosting alongside Euroregion Baltic, Union of Baltic Cities and Association of Swedish Youth Councils.

The two BSSSC Youth Board Members are now busy working with a summary of the two days which will materialize into a declaration to the BSSSC Board on behalf of the BSSSC youth as well as giving input to the first draft for a workshop arranged by the youths at the BSSSC Annual Conference 2018.

The video and the declaration, as well as details on coming youth events in the BSSSC, will be posted on all media channels, but for now, save the dates for the following:

EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region Annual Forum 4-5 June (Youth Event 2-3 June), Tallinn, Estonia.
