First BSSSC Board online meeting under West Pomerania Region 2022

BSSSC Board met on the first Board Meeting in 2022, and the first under a new two-year presidency of West Pomerania Region. The meeting gathered nearly thirty people - representatives of member regions, partner organizations, and networks as well as the youth, exclusively digitally due to the pandemic.

BSSSC Board met on the first Board Meeting in 2022, and the first under a new two-year presidency of West Pomerania Region. The meeting gathered nearly thirty people - representatives of member regions, partner organizations, and networks as well as the youth, exclusivelly due to the pandemic.


Our Board Members met on the 16th March, in a digital model, and discussed various topics concerning cohesion-, culture-, and maritime policy, youth cooperation and so significant to all Baltic Sea regions - European issues as well as Ukraine-Russia situation.


It was also an occasion to present a brief present a work plan for the next two years and introduce the new secretariat of the West Pomerania presidency.


In view of the current situation in Eastern Europe, where the Russian Federation is breaking the norms of law and the rules of the international order our Board Members, representatives of partner organizations, and networks as well as the BSSSC youth started this Board Meeting with a debate on the consequences of this situation for the regions of Russia associated with our organization.


The rest of the digital meeting, on behalf of President Geblewicz, was chaired by Wojciech Dorżynkiewicz, BSSSC Secretary General. 


The Board Meeting involved the presence of special guests – Mr Bernd Hemingway (Council of the Baltic Sea States), Ms Lucille Ehrhart (Baltic Sea Commission CPMR), and Mr Bodo Bahr (Baltic Sea Parliamentary Conference). Thanks to them, BSSSC community could discuss and exchange ideas and plans for the future.


The topics discussed covered a wide range of issues. From plans for the near future through activities to the youth, to the plans related to the Annual Conference 2022. Ms Małgorzata Pytel, acting director of the Regional Office of the West Pomerania Region Office in Brussels, spoke about the current work agenda in the EU as well as about the prospects for the coming years.
