The Awareness Raising Event was a one-day meeting, which was held online due to the COVID situation.  It brought together almost 200 participants from different countries to review hot and important topics in the field of the Baltic Sea cooperation. The meeting provided also a valuable networking opportunity and set the stage as well for further dialog between local actors and those who never took part in any international collaboration before.

The Umbrella 2.0. Awareness Raising Event opening was attended by representatives of leading Baltic organizations. Remarks were presented by Ms Johanna Rönn (on behalf of the Swedish presidency in the Euroregion Baltic), Mr Marko Paunovic (Head of Brussels Antenna, Union of the Baltic Cities), Ms Marta Czarnecka - Gallas (Secretary General, Baltic Sea States Sub - regional Cooperation), as well as Mr Gabor Schneider (Swedish Institute).

The event addressed a variety of topics related to the EUBSR,  EU Green Deal, Sustainable Development Goals. Participants could broaden their scope of knowledge of the circular economy, culture & tourism, education, and biodiversity discussed in the four moderated parallel sessions.

The Awareness Raising Event offered a possibility to exchange ideas with invited experts coming from the Council of the Baltic Sea States, EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region, local NGOs, and municipalities from different Baltic Sea countries, e. g. Ms Olga Zuin (Programme Coordinator of Baltic 2030, Council of the Baltic Sea States), Mr Hans von Essen (Senior Adviser at BERAS International Foundation), Mr Nils Jacobsen (CittaSlow Sokndall, Norway), or Ms Magdalena Gajewska (Coordinator of EcoTech Center, Gdańsk University of Technology).
